Debashree Mukherjee : International Museum day On 18 May, International Museum Day was officially celebrated at Victoria Memorial, Kolkata, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture. The cultural evening was a joint initiative of the Indian Museum and Victoria Memorial, specially organised under the leadership of Dr. Sayan Bhattacharya, Director of the Indian Museum and Secretary & Curator of Victoria Memorial.

The event was graced by Smt. Roopa Ganguly, Hon’ble MLA, as Chief Guest. Distinguished guests included Thierry Mathou, Consul General of France in Kolkata, along with other eminent dignitaries from the fields of art, culture, and heritage.Marking the occasion, internationally acclaimed Odissi exponent Vidushi Reshmi Basu — who has performed extensively across India and abroad — presented a captivating recital along with disciples of her Odissi Dance Academy, “Shivranjani”, as specially invited artist.

The evening commenced with a powerful dance presentation of “Vande Mataram”. This was followed by “Ananda Drishti”, a special production choreographed by Smt. Reshmi Basu, portraying the manifold manifestations of Lord Shiva. The piece was deeply appreciated by the audience for its artistic depth and spiritual resonance.
The narration was compiled by Upasana Chakraborty and rendered by Shubhadeep Saha and Meghna Nandi. The entire programme was conceptualised, directed, and choreographed by Smt. Reshmi Basu, with Smt. Meghna Nandi compering the evening.
